A 22‑year‑old man was shot and hurt in Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Monday night, police say. The incident appears to stem from a money dispute, officials told the press.
Dr. Hedgewar Hospital received a call around 10:10 p.m. that a man named Aditya – the son of Subhash and a local resident – had been taken to the hospital with injuries from a fight. He was brought by his uncle, Murari Sharma. Paramedics found that Aditya had a gunshot wound to his back, with the bullet lodged near his spine.
Police were alerted when the Geeta Colony station received reports of blood on the road close to an ATM. The station’s Officer‑In‑Charge, along with other officers, arrived on the scene shortly after. They confirmed the gunshot wound and secured the site.
In a senior police statement, officers said that Aditya and his wife, Bhumi, were only out for a meal of momos when the incident happened. Bhumi told investigators that her husband had a criminal record and had been threatened earlier in the day by several acquaintances over a money dispute. The wife said the men demanded he return money that evening.
Records show Aditya was arrested in June 2025 for a robbery case at Preet Vihar police station (FIR No. 242/25). That filing was under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police say the shooting looks like an attempt to murder over a financial quarrel. Aditya is conscious but has not named the people who fired the shots. For now, the case is being investigated vigorously.
Teams from the Geeta Colony police station are combing the area for suspects. Meanwhile, CCTV footage from nearby banks and shops is being reviewed, and forensic experts have examined the crime scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
