Dedicated his entire life to religion, nation: HM Amit Shah pays tribute to VHP leader Ashok Singhal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah began a wave of tributes on Monday to honor Ashok Singhal, the influential Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader who helped launch the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. In a Facebook‑style post on X, Shah celebrated Singhal’s lifelong devotion to Indian religion, culture, and nation‑building. He said the pioneer “honoured the nation with his sacrifice and simple, unselfish life.”
Other top BJP leaders joined the tribute. J.P. Nadda, the party’s national president, posted a heartfelt message that highlighted Singhal’s role in steering the Ram‑Janmabhoomi march forward. “He was a symbol of fighting to preserve Sanatan dharma and protect our country,” Nadda wrote. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also posted a short note, telling followers to “respectfully pay tribute” to the VHP stalwart on his death anniversary.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath added his own tribute on X, saying Singhal’s entire life reflected patriotism, religious devotion and a revival of Indian culture. He urged people to keep moving forward in protecting national values, inspired by Singhal’s dedication.
Ashok Singhal died in 2015, but he remains a key figure in the story that led to the construction of the new Ram Temple in Ayodhya. BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders continue to cite his leadership when discussing the modern political and cultural wave in India.
The letters from these senior politicians underline how Singhal’s legacy—rooted in the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign and the VHP’s mission—continues to shape Indian political and cultural discourse.
