HM Amit Shah inaugurates girls hostel, launches Rs 100 crore ‘Dikri Dattak Yojana’ at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Dham

In Ahmedabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah kicked off an exciting event on Sunday by inaugurating the Phase-2 Girls’ Hostel and launching the Rs 100 crore ‘Dikri Dattak Yojana’ at Sardar Dham. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined him for the ceremony, highlighting the Patel community’s strong push for girls’ education and women’s empowerment.
The two leaders started the day by paying floral tributes to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the campus. They then chatted with the trustees about how Sardar Dham plays a key role in nation-building through education and community support.
Speaking to the crowd, Amit Shah praised the Patel community for driving Gujarat’s growth in areas like trade, transport, and jobs. He called it “a society worth studying” for its contributions. Shah highlighted the new modern hostel as a game-changer, saying it will boost confidence among parents in remote villages to send their daughters to college without worries.
“If every community embraces Sardar Dham’s motto—from community building to nation building—India will surely rise as a global powerhouse,” Shah said. He noted that the institution has already helped 3,000 girls and 2,000 boys get educated, making their families and the nation proud.
Shah suggested practical steps for Sardar Dham, like adding Gujarati and Hindi classes to keep students connected to their cultural roots. He also urged expanding the digital library by partnering with other groups to support aspirants preparing for UPSC and GPSC exams.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel echoed these sentiments, stressing that real societal progress depends on empowering women. “Sardar Dham’s hostel for 3,000 girls, complete with education, stay, and meals, lays a solid foundation for women’s education in Gujarat,” he added.
Patel welcomed the ‘Dikri Dattak Yojana’ launch as a big step forward. This scheme, backed by community donors, aims to secure brighter futures for young girls. He tied it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’—a developed India by 2047.
The Chief Minister also spoke about national security gains under PM Modi and Amit Shah’s leadership. He shared the ambitious goal to wipe out Naxalism by March 31, 2026. To wrap up, Patel called on everyone to go ‘swadeshi’ this Diwali—buy local products to build a self-reliant India.
Ravjibhai Sutariya, president of Sardar Dham’s 1,041 trustees, greeted the guests and shared upcoming plans. He reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to social development, education, and empowering women.
This event at Sardar Dham showcases how community efforts are fueling girls’ education in Gujarat and aligning with India’s broader vision for growth and empowerment.
