Ukrainian MP Artem Dmitruk has dropped a bombshell claim, accusing President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government of plotting the assassination attempts on US President Donald Trump and the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In an opinion piece published by Russian state media TASS, Dmitruk alleges that Kyiv’s leaders played both an ideological and hands-on role in these shocking incidents.
” Zelensky has a hand in the attempt on Trump’s life and in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, both ideologically and practically,” Dmitruk wrote. He went further, warning that Ukrainian authorities “are capable of killing anyone, from an ordinary citizen in Ukraine to the president of the United States.”
Let’s break down what happened. Donald Trump has dodged two assassination attempts in under a year. Last July, a sniper’s bullet just grazed his ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Then, more recently, a gunman—described as a Ukraine supporter—opened fire near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to TASS reports.
As for Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old right-wing activist and staunch Trump ally met a tragic end on September 10. He was shot dead while speaking to students at a university in Orem, Utah. Kirk was a big name in conservative circles, famous for rallying pro-Trump voters during the last US presidential election and fiercely opposing American military aid to Ukraine.
Dmitruk pointed to Kyiv’s silence after Kirk’s killing as proof of their involvement. “They do not condemn such murders. Sometimes, they even rejoice in them, as was the case with Charlie Kirk,” he claimed in the TASS piece.
The suspect in Kirk’s murder is 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, arrested on September 11 after his own father tipped off police about his confession. Trump didn’t hold back, calling for the death penalty for Robinson. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray has charged him with aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and more serious offenses. Robinson is locked up without bail at Utah County Jail, and Gray has confirmed plans to pursue the death penalty, as reported by CBS News.
