Dotasra slams Rajasthan govt, says two years marked by drama, failures and broken promises

On Friday, Rajasthan Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra slammed the state administration as it turned two years in office, claiming the period had been “drama, failures, and unfulfilled promises.” He recalled that two years earlier the state had seen “a spectacle where the Chief Minister was chosen through a slip of paper,” and compared the present moment to another drama in which “the Chief Minister read out a script sent from Delhi.”

Instead of highlighting their accomplishments, Dotasra said the chief minister should explain why the promises made by the BJP and the Prime Minister during the campaign remain hollow. He accused the government of dragging Rajasthan behind in every sphere of governance. The former Congress‑run Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme, which once covered Rs 25 lakh per case, has been cut to Rs 5 lakh, while accident insurance has dropped from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. He added that medicines promised under the free‑medicine scheme are reportedly missing from CHCs and PHCs, and that “counterfeit medicines” are appearing wherever supplies exist.

Dotasra warned that the RGHS scheme is “collapsing,” citing the removal of more than 400 hospitals from its panel, and blamed the ruling party for shelving the medical college approved in Sanchore during Congress rule. Farmers, he said, are suffering from fertilizer shortages and are forced into “Aadhaar‑based queues” that resemble the lines during demonetisation. He alleged that they are being met with lathi charges, denied the promised wheat bonus and the Rs 2,700 MSP, and that the Rs 12,000 Kisan Samman Nidhi has yet to be delivered, even though the Agriculture Minister has openly admitted the farmers’ struggles.

Turning to education, he criticized rampant corruption in transfers, pointing out that 6,000 principals were moved during the half‑yearly exam cycle while others awaited promotion. With a shortage of 1.25 lakh teachers, the government announced only 7,000 L‑1 and L‑2 vacancies, creating a competition of roughly 900 applicants per post. Dotasra also highlighted the stalled recruitment of 75,000 sanitation workers, which leaves thousands job‑less.

He noted that the Indira Rasoi Yojana has been watered down with fewer cooks and plates, and that “free food packets for the poor have stopped.” The free livestock insurance, which offered Rs 40,000 compensation, has been discontinued, and new electricity connections no longer receive the promised 150 free units. Concerning the Yamuna water project, Dotasra questioned the government’s claim that a DPR could be completed within four months, since the work remains unfinished after 24 months. He asked why the Centre has not classified ERCP as a national project and how much funding has actually reached Rajasthan.

“I can confidently assert that the Chief Minister’s claims are misleading,” Dotasra concluded, summarizing the two‑year tenure as one of “confusion, contradictions, and complete failure to deliver on promises.”
