Patna, Dec 2 (LatestNewsX) – A string of violent robberies is gripping Bihar, with Siwan district reporting a second major heist in just seven days, sending storefront owners into a frenzy.
At the Khoripakad market beneath Basantpur police station, six gun‑armed men on motorcycles raided a jewellery shop, stealing gold and silver pieces valued at about ₹20 lakh before skidding away. During the attack they fired five rounds to frighten passers‑by. Police hurried to the scene, secured two empty cartridges, and are now scrutinising CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Just a few days earlier, on Nov 27, a daylight robbery hit Krishna Jewellers in Tari Bazaar, under Raghunathpur police station. Looters seized jewellery and cash worth more than ₹50 lakh. Siwan police acted quickly, arresting six men within 24 hours. Authorities say the crime was masterminded by a convicted felon, and both the stolen goods and weapons were recovered.
Despite the swift arrest, the twin incidents have unsettled traders across the district. The most recent major break‑in occurred Tuesday near Patna, in Bihta. Armed men raided a shop in broad daylight by the Vishambarpur crossing, near Bihta police station, targeting local businessman Abhishek Singh—known as “Tinku”—who was carrying ₹11 lakh for a land registration fee. When he stopped at the crossing, the criminals surrounded him, fired warning shots at the crowd, and fled with the cash bag. The scene erupted into chaos, prompting police to launch an immediate investigation and review nearby CCTV footage.
The spate of robberies nationwide has sparked concern among residents and shopkeepers, who are questioning the effectiveness of law‑enforcement measures in curbing such criminal activities. ajk/uk
