Today marks the beginning of Ganpati Visarjan celebrations across Madhya Pradesh as devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha. The immersion of Ganesha idols started on Saturday, coinciding with the festival of Anant Chaturdashi. People gathered at special prayers, chants, and processions before immersing their beloved idols in lakes, tanks, and designated immersion points.
In Bhopal, the capital city, six major ghats saw the start of the immersion process early in the morning. Large Ganesha idols were carefully lowered into water using cranes, while smaller idols were placed into specially prepared tanks. The city set up 33 immersion points to accommodate the large number of devotees, who rejoiced with drums, chants, and slogans, saying goodbye to Bappa with love.
Security was tight across Madhya Pradesh. Police panels, CCTV cameras, divers, and disaster management teams worked round the clock to keep everyone safe. The immersion process is expected to continue into late tonight, with people participating enthusiastically.
The state’s Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, held an important meeting with police and administrative officials to review arrangements and safety plans. District officials joined virtually to report on their preparations. Yadav emphasized staying alert due to heavy rainfall in the region and said officials must be ready for emergencies, including flooding. He also highlighted the need to relocate people if necessary to keep everyone safe.
The CM also observed live demonstrations of disaster management protocols and urged officials to act quickly and compassionately in case of any emergencies. As the festival comes to an end, authorities and devotees alike are focused on celebrating safely and responsibly.
