Ladakh LG calls on Defence Minister, discusses humanitarian assistance & air connectivity for UT

Kavinder Gupta, the Lt‑Governor of Ladakh, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday to talk about aid and better air links for the high‑altitude Union Territory.

Gupta highlighted how Ladakh’s harsh winters can cut roads and isolate communities, stressing the need for more reliable air transport. He asked the Defence Ministry to keep air services running between Kargil, Thoise, and Chandigarh, and to boost flights that connect Leh to Delhi. These air routes help bring supplies, break‑through medical evacuations, and keep residents connected when heavy snowfall blocks the roads.

He also urged continued support under Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army’s program that brings education, health care and community projects to remote Ladakh areas. The Lt‑Governor thanked Rajnath Singh for the Army’s commitment to the welfare of border residents, especially the quick medical evacuations and broader socio‑economic development.

In response, the Defence Minister promised full cooperation from the Ministry of Defence and coordinated agencies to improve connectivity and expand humanitarian help in Ladakh.
