A 25-year-old MBBS doctor from Muzaffarpur tragically took his own life late Friday night, just days after failing his postgraduate medical exam. The incident happened at his home in Jaitpur Colony, under the Qazi Mohammadpur police station area.
The young doctor, identified as Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Chandra, had recently started working at a private hospital in Muzaffarpur after finishing his MBBS studies. According to his family, he returned home around 6 p.m. on Friday, shared a meal with them, and later went to his room. Moments later, he allegedly shot himself in the head with a double-barrelled gun.
Family members quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital, but sadly, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Near his home, the police and forensic team collected evidence and began their investigation.

Muzaffarpur’s Town DSP, Suresh Kumar, confirmed the tragedy. He said the police seized the double-barrelled gun used in the incident and sent Ashutosh’s body to Sri Krishna Medical College for a post-mortem. The police are questioning family members and neighbors to find out more about what led to this heartbreaking event.
