Uttarakhand CM reviews rain damage, relief operations

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took swift action on Tuesday night to tackle the aftermath of heavy rainfall that battered the state on September 15. He visited the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) at IT Park in Dehradun and held a key meeting with top officials from the Disaster Management Department, SDRF, district administration, and other agencies. The focus? Reviewing damage in hard-hit spots like Sahastradhara and Maldevta in Dehradun, plus other districts reeling from the floods and landslides.

Dhami didn’t hold back on instructions. He ordered relief and rescue operations to kick into high gear, stressing that every affected family gets immediate help. “We stand with you,” he assured residents, promising no delays in aid. Teams must ramp up searches for missing people and evacuate folks to safer spots fast to avoid more tragedies.

With the weather department warning of more rain ahead, Dhami put all districts on high alert. He urged officials to monitor the situation closely, coordinate with local teams, and mobilize every resource needed. From speeding up water supply fixes by the Drinking Water Department to prepping the Health Department for potential disease outbreaks, no stone’s left unturned.

The CM also called for better weather forecasting systems and praised brave citizens stepping up during rescues—they’ll get honored for their courage. He gave a shoutout to the SDRF, police, health workers, and municipal teams for their tireless efforts, pushing them to keep collaborating for maximum impact.

Dhami made it clear: Relief camps need solid setups with food, clean water, medical care, and power. District admins should watch sensitive areas like the wobbly ones prone to landslides. And to the public? “Follow admin guidelines strictly—we’re here for you,” he said.

In a big boost, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally called Dhami for updates on the Uttarakhand floods and heavy rainfall crisis. They pledged full central government support to help the state bounce back.

The meeting wrapped with Dhami seeking real-time reports from District Magistrates on relief progress. Attendees included the Chief Secretary, DGP, senior secretaries, NDRF/SDRF officials, and virtual joins from all DMs—everyone united in the fight against this natural disaster.
