Patna, Nov 29 (LatestNewsX) – Karnaveer Singh Yadav, known locally as Lallu Mukhiya, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from the Barh Assembly seat near Patna, turned himself in at the Barh civil court on Saturday.
He had been on the run after a 2023 murder charge, with police launching continuous raids in an attempt to bring him back. When the Supreme Court granted him a temporary stay on arrest during the Assembly elections, he slipped underground. Recent search operations even saw authorities seize his house.
After the Supreme Court denied his bail request and the protective period lapsed, Lallu Mukhiya finally appeared in court to surrender. Court officials took him into custody, and following about six hours of paperwork, he was sent to Barh jail under judicial custody.
He is the principal accused in the 2023 murder case that has kept him at large for years. Although he initially enjoyed temporary protection on the basis of contesting elections, both the Supreme Court and later the High Court rejected his bail applications, leaving surrender as the only viable option.
A heavy‑handed figure in the local politics of Barh and Mokama, Lallu Mukhiya once counted among the close circles of the influential Anant Singh. He has repeatedly accused Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh, of orchestrating politically motivated cases against him.
With his surrender, the police and courts can now move forward with the subsequent stages of the murder litigation. The Barh and Mokama areas have remained in the public eye during the recent 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, largely because of the high‑profile Dularchand Yadav murder case. Dularchand, who supported the Jan Suraaj candidate, was reportedly struck by a vehicle during a campaign clash involving JDU candidate Bahubali Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi on October 30. The next day, unidentified assailants vandalised the vehicle of the RJD candidate in Barh, further heightening regional tensions. Anant Singh is currently housed in Patna’s Beur Central Jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case.
