Police in Queensland say a man was shot dead early Tuesday after he stabbed someone else and threatened a woman on a street in Caboolture, a town about 40 km north of Brisbane. The incident happened around 3:42 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Queensland Police Service (QPS). Officers responded to a report that a man had been stabbed in the neck.
The alleged attacker ran away on foot but was caught a short distance later, reportedly brandishing a weapon at a nearby woman. An officer fired a shot that killed the suspect on the spot. The victim who was stabbed was rushed to hospital in serious condition, while the woman was uninjured.
QPS said the case is under investigation and that authorities are working to determine who was responsible and why the shooting happened. The incident has added to growing concerns about public safety in the region.
Not long before, Queensland police dealt with another stabbing in the Gold Coast area. On Thursday night, 6 November, emergency crews were called to a residential property in Molendinar, a suburb about 65 km southeast of Brisbane. A 17‑year‑old boy was found at the scene with severe injuries, placed in critical condition in hospital. Two attackers fled in a vehicle before officers arrived, and the QPS left a crime scene and opened a search for the perpetrators.
Both incidents underline how quickly violence can unfold in Queensland towns and the importance of a swift police response. QPS is coordinating with local authorities to help bring any offenders to justice and keep the communities safe.
