Three bodies were recovered from a house on the outskirts of Tirupati, in the Daminedu area, on Tuesday. The victims—a couple in a live‑in arrangement and their three‑year‑old son—were found in a decomposed state inside the Indiramma Houses colony under the jurisdiction of the Tiruchanur police station. A neighbor smelled a strong odor from the dwelling and called the authorities. Police entered the house and discovered the bodies.
The deceased were identified as Satyaraj, Ponnagutte Nayagi, both in their 30s, and their son Manish, who was three at the time of death. Satyaraj’s body was hanging, while Nayagi and the child lay near the washroom. A bottle of poison had been found in the house, leading investigators to suspect that Satyaraj may have poisoned his partner and son before taking his own life.
Witnesses told authorities that the three had not left the house since November 22. The family originated from Gudiyattam in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. Early findings suggest that Satyaraj had abandoned his wife and was involved in an extramarital affair with Nayagi, whom he met in the same locality. They had moved to Tirupati three months earlier and worked as daily‑wage labourers.
Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar confirmed that the bodies were transported to a government hospital for post‑mortem examinations. The police have filed a case and are continuing their investigation.
In a separate incident, officers in the Guntur district are probing the suicide of Madhuri Sahithibai, 27, a daughter of a senior IAS officer. She was found hanging in the bathroom of her Tadepalli residence on Sunday night. In March 2025, Madhuri had entered into a love marriage with Rajesh Naidu from Nandyal district. The inter‑caste union quickly deteriorated, with Madhuri alleging harassment from her husband and a request for additional dowry. She returned to her parents’ home two months earlier. Following a complaint from her family, the police registered a case and begun an inquiry, pointing to potential abuse from Rajesh.
