Mumbai police have nabbed a man from West Bengal who allegedly threatened Bollywood star and comedian Kapil Sharma, demanding a whopping Rs 1 crore in extortion money. Officials say the suspect, Dilip Chaudhary, made the scary calls to one of Sharma’s close associates on September 22 and 23. He warned that Sharma would be killed if the cash wasn’t handed over right away.
Sharma’s team didn’t waste time—they tipped off the Mumbai Police Crime Branch immediately. Cops jumped into action, filing a case and launching a full investigation into the extortion threat. Using call traces, they zeroed in on Chaudhary’s location in West Bengal and arrested him. He was hauled back to Mumbai and appeared in court, where a judge sent him to police custody until September 30 for more questioning.
What makes this case extra alarming? Chaudhary reportedly dropped the names of infamous gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar in his threats, so authorities are handling it with top priority. Police are still digging into his motives behind the Bollywood extortion plot.
In other troubling news involving Kapil Sharma, his Kap Cafe in Surrey, Canada, faced a second shooting attack within a month. This happened on Thursday, with multiple shots fired at the spot on 85 Avenue and Scott Road. The incidents have left locals and fans worried about the comedian’s safety.
