Italian Deputy PM Tajani arrives in New Delhi to bolster India–Italy strategic partnership
Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a three‑day official visit that marks his second trip to India this year and is aimed at deepening the India‑Italy Strategic Partnership.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed the delegation on X, posting, “His engagements in Delhi and Mumbai will further strengthen India-Italy Strategic Partnership.”
During his stay, Tajani is slated to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Delhi on Wednesday. He will head to Mumbai the next day and take part in a series of formal events, as outlined in a MEA media advisory.
After concluding his activities, Tajani will leave Mumbai on Friday.
Back in April, the two leaders reviewed the growing bilateral ties under the Joint Strategic Action Plan (JSAP) 2025‑29, covering trade, investment, defense, security, space, science and technology, clean‑energy transition, culture, tourism, and people‑to‑people contacts.
The MEA noted that both sides were pleased with the regular high‑level exchanges and highlighted the vast potential for collaboration in AI, cybersecurity, telecom, digital technologies, renewable energy, biofuels, education, academic partnerships, scientific research, and youth and professional mobility.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership and delivering concrete outcomes through the JSAP.
Earlier, on November 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Italy’s Giorgia Meloni during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, discussing ways to strengthen ties across trade, investment, defense, innovation, AI, space, and education.
