Dua Lipa’s sister Rina Lipa to make film debut as cut-throat criminal in ‘A Gangster’s Life’
Los Angeles, Dec 10 – Rina Lipa, the 24‑year‑old sister of singer‑songwriter Dua Lipa, is stepping into the film world with her first movie role. She will portray a ruthless gangster, teaming up with Jonny Weldon from One Day and Tony Cook, known from Dune: Part Two, in the British crime thriller A Gangster’s Life, according to Female First UK.
Rina plays Scarlett, a woman who navigates a perilous landscape of mob violence and treachery. She follows in her famous sister’s footsteps as she teams up with award‑winning cinematographer Zak Fenning, who is directing his debut film.
The film pays tribute to classic gangster fare such as Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Gentlemen. Additional cast members include Tomi May, Christina Gkioka, Bradley Turner and Sasha Latoya. The picture will be available on UK digital platforms from January 19, released by Miracle Media.
The story follows low‑level conmen Ant (Cook) and Dick (Weldon) as they encounter London criminal emcee Emery (May). After a pivotal event, the duo is reluctantly pulled into Emery’s shadowy underworld, with Scarlett becoming one of Emery’s hard‑edge crew, playing the pair as pawns.
When a mobster dies, the gang flees to Greece. Rina’s move mirrors her sister Dua’s film work—most notably as Mermaid Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (2023) and the deadly spy LaGrange in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle (last year), which also starred Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and Bryan Cranston. A Gangster’s Life will stream from Miracle Media on January 19.
