Delhi Police Busts Major Interstate Drug Syndicate, Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 17.80 Crore
In a big win against drug trafficking in Delhi, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has smashed a well-organized interstate narco-syndicate. They arrested two key players and grabbed high-value heroin worth about Rs 17.80 crore. This crackdown shows how police are fighting hard to stop drugs from flooding the city and nearby areas.
The operation kicked off on June 28 when ANTF nabbed 24-year-old Gaurav from Rohini. Officers found 1.4 kg of heroin with him. They quickly registered a case under the NDPS Act and dug deeper into the network. Turns out, Gaurav was getting his supply from 19-year-old Vansh Popat.
Popat tried to dodge the cops at first, but on September 2, a team led by SI Yuzvendra Singh and SI Amrendra raided and caught him. Police seized 26 grams of heroin from his possession. Questioning Popat revealed the big supplier: 26-year-old Arslam, also known as Danish, who ran things from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
Just days later, on September 6, the Crime Branch team spotted Arslam near Milak in Bareilly. He was driving a black Hyundai i20. When they searched the car, they hit the jackpot—four packets with 2.07 kg of heroin each, plus another 50 grams, making it a total of 2.12 kg. They also seized the car and a scooter used for smuggling drugs.
This bust highlights how these drug syndicates build sneaky supply chains. Gaurav, a school dropout from a family in the illegal liquor business, started selling smack after linking up with Popat in 2023. Popat, who’s unemployed and from Sultanpuri, scaled up to buying in bulk through Arslam. Arslam himself quit his job as a two-wheeler mechanic in Rampur and jumped into the heroin trade.
DCP (Crime Branch-ANTF) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav told reporters that teams are now chasing leads to uncover the full supply chain, including the source and where the drugs were headed. "We’re working to trace everything and cut off these networks completely," he said.
Officials say this operation points to the rising threat of heroin pushing into Delhi and neighboring states. The Delhi Police Crime Branch is ramping up intelligence and joint raids to block these interstate drug trafficking routes. Stay tuned as more arrests could be on the way in this ongoing battle against narcotics.
