All India Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi said he is not upset that the opposition Mahagathbandhan has declined the party’s offer to ally for Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections. He told that AIMIM will chart its own strategy and that voters in Bihar know the party’s intentions are honest.
Owaisi criticised opposition parties that label AIMIM the “B‑team” of the BJP. He said those parties should examine their own flaws instead of attacking him. “We have no idea why you accuse us,” he said, noting that leaders who abstained from the recent vice‑presidential vote now claim his party’s aims are right.
Last month AIMIM’s Bihar chief, MLA Akhtarul Iman, had approached RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav with a proposal for an alliance. Owaisi said AIMIM was ready to contest six seats, but RJD ignored the offer. This week he warned the Mahagathbandhan that their arrogance may backfire.
Bihar’s elections will take place in two phases on 6 and 11 November, with counting on 14 November, per the Election Commission after the Supreme Court’s decision.
Owaisi highlighted three key issues: the under‑development of the Seemanchal districts, widespread misgovernance and corruption in Bihar, and a sense of alienation among the state’s Muslim community. “About 19% of Muslims in Bihar feel they lack leadership,” he added.
When asked why people believe AIMIM is allied with the BJP, Owaisi said opposition parties try to spread that rumor. He dismissed the idea that including him could “cure the disease,” pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose popularity hovers around 50% among non‑Muslims, depends on a coalition of parties for his long tenure.
Owaisi closed by saying AIMIM will continue to raise its agenda in the upcoming polls, stressing that the party remains independent and ready to represent Bihar’s under‑represented voices.
