Former Ohio State running back accused of ‘forcibly’ dragging person out of vehicle, beating them unconscious

A former Ohio State Buckeyes running back and team captain landed in hot water this weekend after police say he dragged a man from a car at a Columbus gas station and beat him senseless.

Jordan Hall, now 34, faces a felonious assault charge stemming from the brutal attack early Saturday morning. Columbus police rushed to the scene around 1:20 a.m. after reports of a fight. They found the victim knocked out cold, suffering serious head injuries from repeated blows. Paramedics rushed him to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

Surveillance video captured the shocking moments, police say. Hall allegedly yanked the passenger from another vehicle, then punched him multiple times in the face. As the man tried to get up, Hall got back in his car and started to drive away—only to stop, return, and deliver more devastating hits. The victim slammed his head on the pavement and went still.

The injuries were so severe that homicide detectives joined the investigation to make sure nothing was overlooked.

In his mugshot from Franklin County Jail, Hall flashed a wide smile with half-closed eyes, tilting his head to one side.

Hall starred as a running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2009 to 2013. He stepped up as team captain in his senior year of 2012 but sat out most of the season due to a foot injury that forced a medical redshirt. Fans remember him as a versatile player who once rushed for a career-high 159 yards in a game during his redshirt season. Despite his college success, he never broke into the NFL.

After graduation, Hall earned a degree in finance and financial management. He’s bounced between jobs over the years and now works for a building maintenance management company. He also runs a small real estate business, with big dreams of building one of the largest portfolios in the Midwest, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Hall is due in court on Monday to face the felonious assault charge.
