Tamil Nadu’s BJP unit is gearing up for a major protest wave across the state’s 234 Assembly constituencies. The party plans to spotlight what it describes as the DMK government’s corrupt, lawless, and misleading rule. Starting October 5 and running through November 30, these demonstrations aim to rally people against the ruling party’s shortcomings.
BJP state secretary Vinoth B. Selvam made the announcement, following directives from state president and legislature leader Nainar Nagendran. The BJP slams the DMK for a string of failures over the last four years, including crumbling law and order, widespread corruption, surging narcotics trafficking, and rising political violence.
“The DMK is banking on fake promises and cash giveaways to hold onto power,” Selvam said in a statement. “It’s our job in a democracy to call out these issues and shield people from this one-family dominance.”
The party highlights how the DMK has let down students, teachers, workers, and the poor with broken pledges. These include scrapping education loans, hiring for 3.5 lakh government jobs, bringing back the old pension system, giving permanent roles to part-time teachers, and formalizing positions for anganwadi and nutrition workers.
“Instead of keeping their word, the government rounds up protesting teachers and workers,” the statement claims.
On top of that, the BJP points to unfulfilled vows on monthly electricity bills and LPG subsidies. Meanwhile, folks face sharp increases in power tariffs, property taxes, milk prices, and everyday essentials.
The protests will also tackle Chennai’s ongoing flood woes, as the BJP criticizes failed rainwater drainage projects worth thousands of crores that haven’t stopped the annual deluge.
Law and order takes center stage too. The party recalls brutal murders like that of BSP leader Armstrong and BJP worker Balachandran in Chennai, plus killings of social activists and officials by criminal gangs and mining mafias. It also accuses DMK-linked networks of fueling narcotics trafficking across Tamil Nadu.
“Lock-up deaths, deadly hooch incidents, TASMAC liquor scams, and corruption in every corner sum up this disastrous rule,” the statement adds.
Through these constituency-level actions, the BJP wants to rip off the “mask” of the so-called Dravidian Model, calling it a blueprint for failure. The goal? Push for quick fixes to everyday grievances faced by Tamil Nadu residents.
