Bhopal/Seoni, Dec 8 (LatestNewsX) – A narrow escape unfolded in Monday evening in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh, when a trainer aircraft nearly flew into a high‑voltage power line and had to crash near Sukatra village, just outside the border of the Kurai police station area. Police say the incident took place around 6:30 p.m.
When the bird‑broke incident caught people’s attention, the village quickly turned into a flurry of activity as folks rushed to the site and helped evacuate the pilot and passenger safely. A video of the crash soon made rounds online, sparking further concern.
C.S. Tekam, the Investigation Officer from Kurai Police, told LatestNewsX that both the trainer and trainee have survived. “They are now at a private hospital. One sustained a head injury while the other has facial wounds,” he said, adding that the company representatives confirmed that both individuals were able to walk out of the aircraft unharmed.
Tekam noted that the aircraft was a two‑seat training plane, although the exact manufacturer has not yet been identified. The pilot was identified as Ajeet Anthony, and the trainee as Ashok Chhava. “We are awaiting instructions from higher authorities regarding the investigation,” he added, emphasizing that there was no loss of life reported even after one wheel of the plane got caught in a 33 kV high‑tension line, breaking it from the tower before the plane finally touched down.
“The training company has been operating in this region since 2023,” the officer mentioned. Based on witness accounts and initial evidence, the airplane experienced a sudden descent, likely due to a technical fault. “It was probably losing engine power, and one of the wheels snagged on the high‑voltage line for a moment,” he explained. The strain broke the wire, producing a sharp pop, sparks, and considerable noise—but luckily, the damage remained minimal.
Locals recounted seeing sparks as the craft struck the wires, and soon realized the occupants were in danger, so they mobilised to help. Some villagers pointed out that this wasn’t the first glitch: they claimed training aircraft had overturned twice on the runway previously. They feared that if the plane had stayed tangled in the lines longer, the aftermath could have been far more severe.
