Trinamool has established ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bengal: BJP

In Kolkata this week, BJP’s IT Cell chief and West Bengal observer Amit Malviya blasted the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and chief minister Mamata Banerjee after a violent attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu. Murmu, a two‑time BJP parliamentarian from Malda district, was on a relief drive to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri when TMC activists allegedly struck him and his aide.

The incident came amid severe floods and landslides in North Bengal’s Terai and Dooars regions. Malviya said the TMC government has turned the state into a “Jungle Raj” and that its leaders are absent while the public suffers. He described the TMC’s response as “missing in action” while BJP volunteers were “attacked for helping people.”

BJP whip Shankar Ghosh, who was in the car with Murmu, reported that the vehicle was assaulted in Bamandanga. They say sticks, rods, and stones were thrown, damaging the car and leaving Murmu with a head wound that caused heavy bleeding.

The incident highlights growing tensions between the ruling TMC and opposition BJP in West Bengal, especially as the state battles natural disasters. The BJP accuses the TMC of protecting its supporters and silencing those who try to assist the affected communities.
