Now, Firozpur will get all necessary attention, resources: MoS Ravneet Bittu on Vande Bharat train’s launch

Firozpur, India – November 8: The town of Firozpur on the India‑Pakistan border welcomed a new high‑speed train today. The Vande Bharat Express, a flagship of the Indian Railways’ modernization drive, ran for the first time from the city to New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, called the launch “a turning point for our border district” and said Firozpur would finally get the resources it needs. “The Modi government is focused on upgrading places that have been overlooked,” he told reporters.

Bringing faster, cleaner travel to a tough‑to‑reach region, the train cuts journey time dramatically. A spokesperson from the North Eastern Railway, DRM Gaurav Agarwal, highlighted the plan’s comforts: “Our coaches have extra legroom, automatic door closers and modern washrooms – all built to give passengers a smooth ride.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the rail‑system’s demo week to start four new Vande Bharat routes: Banaras‑to‑Khajuraho, Lucknow‑to‑Saharanpur, Firozpur‑to‑Delhi, and Ernakulam‑to‑Bengaluru. He explained that the move is part of a larger effort to speed up travel across the country and boost trade.

Former Minister Rana Gurmit Sodhi praised the link, saying that connecting Malwa’s border town to the capital would boost the local economy and ease movement for traders and tourists alike.

Local business leaders echoed the sentiment. Sanjay Gupta, president of the Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, said four new high‑speed trains would strengthen ties between Uttar Pradesh’s major cities and bring a wave of investment to the region.

Passengers were quick to share their impressions. “The train is faster and cleaner than the old services,” one resident told the press. “This will be a big relief for travelers who used to wait hours for a cancelled train.”

The Firozpur launch is expected to lift economic activity in the border district and improve regional connectivity for years to come. By adding a high‑speed, comfortable link to the national capital, the Vande Bharat Express marks a significant step forward for India’s rail network.
