In Jaipur, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajanlal Sharma, launched the “Yamuna Pravah Yatra” on Wednesday from the Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial. The ceremony was part of the nationwide “Unity March” that celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Participants came from eight different states, with Rajasthan represented as well. Senior BJP leaders—including MP Manju Sharma, MLAs Kalicharan Saraf, Bal Mukundacharya, Gopal Sharma, and others—were also present.
During his remarks, the Chief Minister said the march’s goal is to promote national unity and to highlight Patel’s pivotal role in bringing the princely states together after independence.
As a key element of the anniversary program, four river‑named “yatras” are being organised across the country, and two of these will travel through Rajasthan.
Earlier this month, the “Ganga Pravah Yatra” had its flag‑off in Delhi by Union Health Minister and BJP National President J.P. Nadda. It is now winding through Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Chittorgarh, and Udaipur before heading to Karamsad in Gujarat.
The “Yamuna Pravah Yatra” is set to move through Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, and Sirohi before crossing into Gujarat, so that the two Rajasthan routes together cover ten districts.
Each district has sent two representatives to the march, and several young volunteers from the BJP Yuva Morcha are participating. Cultural programmes that showcase local traditions are being arranged along the route.
In Alwar, marchers were welcomed with Bharathari performances, while Sawai Madhopur hosted a Kanhaiya Dangal.
Similar events have been scheduled in Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur. The first leg of the Yatra includes a student interaction session at Haridev Joshi Journalism University and an evening visit to the Brahma Temple in Pushkar.
As the march continues, more student dialogues, market outreach campaigns, and heritage site visits are planned.
All four yatras will ultimately converge at Karamsad in Gujarat, where the concluding ceremony will be held.
According to the BJP, this initiative aims to deepen people’s understanding of Sardar Patel’s nation‑building legacy and to foster unity and pride—especially among the young.
