In Patna, Bihar, tensions are rising in the state’s political scene after a heated exchange over abusive remarks at a local rally. Former Bihar minister and expelled RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav demanded the immediate arrest of Mahua MLA on Sunday, calling his comments “mad” and deeply offensive.
Tej Pratap reacted strongly to a post by RJD leader Rohini Acharya on X (formerly Twitter). He told , “Whoever uses these words about my sister, my mother, or even Narendra Modi’s mother has lost it. The Mahua MLA doesn’t get how serious this is. I urge the Bihar government and central government to arrest him right away and put him behind bars.” He added that his party, Janshakti Janta Dal, along with the Bihar Gathbandhan alliance, will keep protesting until it happens.
The controversy stems from alleged abusive language targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during a Bihar rally. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi condemned the remarks, blaming opposition leaders for using “crude tactics” to grab headlines. In a chat with reporters, Manjhi said, “When people get desperate, they stoop to dirty words and actions—it’s totally condemnable.” He urged Bihar voters to watch closely and respond at the polls.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also fired back at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing them of tarnishing Bihar’s pride. He linked the incident to the “jungle raj” days under Lalu Yadav’s 2005 government. Singh stated, “It doesn’t surprise me coming from Tejashwi Yadav’s platform—there’s no difference between him and Rahul Gandhi. They made a huge mistake insulting the PM’s mother. Tejashwi and Rahul should apologize, or Bihar’s people will make them pay in the elections.”
As Bihar elections heat up, this clash highlights the growing mudslinging between ruling and opposition camps, with calls for accountability echoing across the state.
