Suryakumar Yadav touched down in his hometown Mumbai on Monday evening, fresh off leading India to victory in the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025. Just a day earlier, the Indian cricket team clinched the title by chasing down Pakistan’s total with five wickets to spare in the thrilling final at Dubai International Stadium.

Surya arrived with his wife and slipped out of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in a sleek black SUV. He skipped chatting with reporters, sticking to his comments from the post-match press conference in Dubai. Those words wrapped up his take on the tournament, where India’s on-field wins grabbed headlines—but so did their bold off-field choices.

The Indian squad wrapped up in Dubai early that evening and headed home in waves. Players in the Test lineup, including head coach Gautam Gambhir and the support staff, jetted off to Ahmedabad. They’re gearing up for India’s first Test against the West Indies in just a few days. Meanwhile, other squad members like Mumbai’s Shivam Dube caught flights back to their cities—Dube has already landed in Mumbai.

Suryakumar’s captaincy shone bright as India went undefeated, racking up seven straight wins and handing arch-rivals Pakistan three losses along the way. But the final moments stirred controversy. Indian players skipped the traditional handshake with the Pakistan team and turned down the Asia Cup trophy when Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)—plus Pakistan’s interior minister—offered to present it.

The standoff highlighted India’s firm stance against engaging with Pakistani players and officials. Naqvi held his ground on handing over the trophy himself, so he ended up leaving the stadium with it in hand.

This T20 Asia Cup 2025 triumph caps a dominant run for Suryakumar Yadav and the Men in Blue, blending cricket glory with some heated diplomatic vibes.
