Abhishek Sharma stole the show in Dubai on Wednesday, smashing a fiery 75 off just 37 balls to power India to 168/6 against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup Super Fours T20 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The young left-hander’s explosive knock featured plenty of big hits, including multiple sixes that thrilled the crowd. It not only sparked India’s innings but also etched his name in the record books. Abhishek now holds the second spot for most T20I innings with five or more sixes by an Indian player, with six such outings—trailing only Rohit Sharma’s 13 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 9. He also shattered the Asia Cup record by slamming 17 sixes in the 2025 edition, the highest in a single tournament across all formats.

Bangladesh skipper Jaker Ali, standing in for the injured Litton Das, won the toss and chose to bowl first. India wasted no time, racing to 72 without loss in the powerplay overs. Shubman Gill kicked things off with a solid 29 off 19 balls, but Abhishek took charge, punishing loose deliveries. He even survived a dropped catch by Jaker Ali early on and made the most of it, keeping Bangladesh on the back foot.

Things shifted after the powerplay. Rishad Hossain struck first, dismissing Gill right as fielding restrictions lifted. India then surprised everyone by sending Shivam Dube at number three to tackle the spinners, but he fell cheaply for 2. Suryakumar Yadav joined Abhishek, and they added a quick 29 runs off 13 balls. But momentum swung when Rishad pulled off a stunning run-out to end Abhishek’s brilliant stay at 75.

From there, India struggled to build partnerships. Suryakumar couldn’t find his rhythm and scored just 5 off 11 balls, while Tilak Varma added only 5. Hardik Pandya brought some stability with a steady 38, not out, helping India push past 165. Axar Patel hung in there unbeaten on 10 off 15, but the team managed just 70 runs in the last 10 overs, finishing at 168/6.

Rishad Hossain shone for Bangladesh with 2 wickets for 27 runs, plus that crucial run-out, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib chipped in with 1-29.

Brief scores: India 168/6 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 75, Hardik Pandya 38; Rishad Hossain 2-27, Tanzim Hasan Sakib 1-29) vs Bangladesh.
