Bangladesh’s star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has hit a big milestone in cricket, grabbing his 150th T20I wicket during the Asia Cup Super Fours match against India in Dubai on Wednesday. This puts him in an elite group as just the fourth player ever to reach that mark in T20 internationals.

Mustafizur picked up 1 for 33 in his four overs, helping Bangladesh stay in the hunt. He now leads Bangladesh’s all-time T20I wicket-takers list, overtaking Shakib Al Hasan’s tally of 149. The 30-year-old also holds the best bowling figures among pacers in the format, thanks to his stunning 6 for 10 against the United States earlier this year.

He ties New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi for third place on the global T20I list, behind Tim Southee’s 164 and Rashid Khan’s 173. Across 118 matches, Mustafizur has snared 150 wickets at an average of 20.65, with an economy rate of 7.30—impressive numbers that highlight his skill as a versatile pacer.

His landmark 150th scalp came off India captain Suryakumar Yadav. Mustafizur bowled a short ball down the leg side, and Yadav tried to flick it away. The ball grazed the edge of his bat, and stand-in skipper Jaker Ali made a diving catch to his left to seal the dismissal.

India, batting first after winning the toss, started slow with just 17 runs in the first three overs. But openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill fired up, smashing 72 without loss in the powerplay—their best in this Asia Cup. Things shifted when Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain clean bowled Gill for 29 off 19 balls.

Sharma kept the momentum going, notching his second fifty of the tournament with a quick single off Saifuddin. But he soon ran himself out for a fiery 75 off 37 balls, trying to steal a run. Rishad’s sharp throw and Mustafizur’s quick work at the stumps ended Sharma’s knock. India finished at 168 for 6, setting up an intriguing chase in this key cricket showdown.
