India Opts to Bat First Against Oman in T20 Asia Cup 2025 Group A Clash
In a thrilling T20 Asia Cup 2025 showdown at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, India won the toss and chose to bat first against Oman in their Group A Match 12 on Friday. Both sides shook things up with two changes each from their previous lineups, setting the stage for an exciting encounter.
India made smart tweaks by bringing in pace sensations Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, replacing Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah. Over on the Oman side, Mohammad Nadeem and Zikria Islam stepped in for Wasim Ali and Husnain Ali Shah, aiming to strengthen their bowling attack.
India’s skipper Suryakumar Yadav sounded confident at the toss. "We’re going to bat first," he said with a grin. "We haven’t done this yet in the tournament, and it’s a chance to test our batting depth. Game time matters as we head into the Super 4s. We’ll keep up the strong habits from our first two wins. The pitch looks good, and our openers will figure out the rest. Oh, and we’ve got two changes—Harshit Rana’s in, plus one more. I’m starting to feel like Rohit Sharma with all these toss decisions!" he added, laughing.
Oman captain Jatinder Singh, who would’ve preferred batting first, stayed upbeat. "It’s an awesome experience playing here," he noted. "Our team’s young and needs more exposure, but this match against India is perfect for testing ourselves. Sharing the field with them lets us peek into their game plan. We’ve made two changes too."
This marks India’s final league game in Group A, where Suryakumar’s men have dominated with back-to-back victories. Oman, on the other hand, has struggled, losing all their matches so far. Fans are eager to see if the underdogs can pull off an upset in this T20 Asia Cup 2025 fixture.

India XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav
