PM Modi inaugurates sacred conch of Lord Krishna in Kurukshetra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after attending the Dharma Dhwajarohan Utsav at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya on Tuesday, travelled to the historic city of Kurukshetra in Haryana. There he formally unveiled the “Panchjanya”, a monument fashioned in honour of Lord Krishna’s sacred conch.

With Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini—who wore a striking “kesari” turban—Modi toured the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, a centre that will soon welcome visitors from India and abroad.

The Prime Minister also plans to take part in a host of significant cultural and spiritual programmes. His itinerary is aimed at celebrating the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, and at promoting the region’s rich heritage. He will attend the International Gita Mahotsav – 2025 and observe the traditional Maha Aarti.

Before arriving in Kurukshetra, Modi offered his tribute to the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Teg Bahadur, noting that the Guru’s martyrdom was “for the protection of faith and humanity will forever illuminate our society.”

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote: “On the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, we bow in reverence to his unmatched courage and sacrifice. His martyrdom for the protection of faith and humanity will forever illuminate our society.”

To spread the precious message of the Guru’s penance, sacrifice, and glorious legacy, the state government and the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur here, where the Prime Minister will take part in the ceremony.

Chief Minister Saini also highlighted the government’s initiatives to raise awareness about the Gurus’ sacrifices and their unparalleled contributions, affirming that future generations should draw guidance from these sacred inspirations.

He added that Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice “for the protection of humanity, religion and the nation” is a legacy that must be shared with everyone so that all can be inspired by this profound history.

With PM Modi’s visit, Kurukshetra district has been put on high alert. Multi‑layered, comprehensive security arrangements have been scrupulously carried out to ensure zero lapse in VVIP protection.
