Hockey India has unveiled a 33-player core group for the Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp, kicking off today at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bengaluru. The camp runs until October 18 and sets the stage for two big upcoming challenges for the Indian men’s hockey team.
First up is the 31st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 in Ipoh, Malaysia, from November 22 to 29. Right after that, the team heads to South Africa for a tough tour to ramp up preparations. These events are key steps toward the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026.
The players arrive with momentum from their unbeaten run at the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir. They clinched the title there, earning a direct spot in the 2026 World Cup. Now, the focus is on keeping that winning streak alive, fixing weak spots, and boosting team depth in every position.
Indian men’s hockey team chief coach Craig Fulton shared his thoughts before the camp starts: "Winning the Asia Cup and locking in World Cup qualification was a huge milestone, but it’s just the start. The players are back with fresh energy, and we’re diving into tactics for the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament. That’ll be a solid test before South Africa, where we build toward our long-term goals. Success isn’t only about wins—it’s about learning, adapting, and growing as a unit."
