New Delhi – With the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 just weeks away, Hockey India has launched a nationwide Trophy Tour. The World Cup trophy will travel to 20 cities across India, giving fans a chance to see it up close before the tournament starts in Chennai and Madurai on November 28.
The tour began on November 7 during Hockey India’s centenary celebrations at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, FIH President Dato Tayyab Ikram, Hockey India President Dr Dilip Tirkey, Secretary‑General Bhola Nath Singh and Treasurer Sekar J Manoharan were among the dignitaries who joined the event.
Hockey India says the Trophy Tour is a way to build excitement and unite hockey fans across the country ahead of the biggest junior world cup ever. The event will showcase the trophy in 20 cities—from the snowy hills of Jammu to the sunny beaches of Kerala—before it returns to Tamil Nadu for the finals.
“Taking the excitement of the Junior World Cup to every corner of India is what the Trophy Tour is all about,” said Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey. “It’s a historic moment for Indian hockey as we host 24 teams in the largest edition yet. We want fans across the nation to feel part of the celebration and to send their best wishes to the Indian squad before they head to Chennai.”
Secretary‑General Bhola Nath Singh added, “From the north extreme of Jammu and Kashmir to the south in Kerala, this tour unites the hockey fraternity. Beginning in New Delhi during our Centenary Celebrations makes it even more special. The journey of the trophy through 20 cities ensures fans throughout India share in the anticipation of hosting this prestigious global tournament.”
