WPL 2026: Looking forward to teaming up with Meg Lanning at UP Warriorz, say Shikha Pandey, Kiran Navgire

Mumbai – Indian cricketers Shikha Pandey and Kiran Navgire are buzzing about joining forces with former Australian skipper Meg Lanning at the UP Warriorz, eager to learn from the legend in the 2026 Women’s Premier League season.
The recent WPL auction stirred a mix of excitement and fresh starts for players like Shikha and Kiran, as they either slipped into new squads or returned to familiar ones.
On JioHotstar, the newly signed Shikha and the returning power‑hitter Kiran reflected on the nerves and thrill of the auction, the changes in franchise, and the prospect of playing alongside world‑class leaders.
During the discussion, Shikha admitted that she felt a bit nervous when the auction began.
“There was definitely a bit of anxiety, but I reminded myself that whatever is meant to happen, will happen,” she said. “I trusted the hard work I’ve put in over the past three seasons. I’m really happy to now be part of the UP Warriorz family.”
She went on to thank her former team:
“I have immense gratitude for Delhi Capitals – for the opportunities, the trust, and the support from the coaching group. But now, with UP Warriorz, I’m excited that Meg Lanning will be there. Playing alongside someone like Sophie Ecclestone is something I’m really looking forward to.”
Kiran, meanwhile, recounted how she learned of her selection while she was batting in the nets:
“I was batting in the nets while my friends were watching the auction. As soon as my name came up, they called me, and we all watched the moment together.”
She added that coming back to UP Warriorz and reuniting with Meg Lanning has long been a dream.
“I feel really good about this moment. I wanted to play for UP Warriorz this season. I’ve built a strong bond with the players and the staff, so I’m excited to be back. I always wanted to play with Meg Lanning, and I’m lucky she has joined our team. She has won so many World Cups and big matches for Australia, and even in the last two to three seasons with the Delhi Capitals, she led them to the finals. All that experience will help us this year. I’m looking forward to playing with her and learning from her,” Kiran Navgire said.
