Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain grabbed the spotlight at the Telangana Golconda Masters 2025, clinching the top prize after heavy rain in Hyderabad washed out the final round on Friday.

Organizers at the Hyderabad Golf Association called the tournament based on scores from the first three rounds, since the weather made the fourth round impossible. Jamal finished strong at 23-under 187 with rounds of 61, 62, and 64—holding a four-shot lead going into the end. This marks his sixth career win and his first since last November, earning him INR 15 lakh and boosting him from 14th to 10th on the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit.

Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma came in second at 19-under 291 after scores of 62, 64, and 65, pocketing INR 10 lakh and jumping from 34th to 21st in the PGTI rankings. Bengaluru’s Khalin Joshi took third place with a solid 13-under 197 from 65, 66, and 66.

Delhi’s Arjun Prasad rounded out sixth at 11-under 199, holding steady in second on the PGTI money list with season earnings of INR 69,71,599. Chandigarh’s Yuvraj Sandhu, who skipped this event, still leads the PGTI earnings chart at INR 88,67,200. Among local Hyderabad players, Vishesh Sharma shone brightest, tying for 22nd at 5-under 205.

Jamal owned the course from the jump, leading after every round with just one bogey over 54 holes. He started with a blistering 61 for a one-shot edge, stretched it to three after a 62 in round two, and sealed his dominance with a 64 in round three.

“I’m thrilled to finally snag a win this season after coming so close a few times earlier,” Jamal said. “I wanted to play the final round, but you can’t control the weather. My driving and putting kept me steady all week—that opening 61 really kicked things off right.”

Looking ahead, Jamal has his eyes on the DP World India Championship in Delhi next month. “My game’s coming together nicely for it,” he added.

The rain-soaked finish couldn’t dim the excitement of this PGTI golf tournament, where Jamal’s steady play shone through despite the downpour.
