Trump administration claims ‘most secure border in US history’ as encounters fall to record lows

Washington, Dec 12 (LatestNewsX) – President Donald Trump has claimed that the U.S. border is now the “most secure border in our nation’s history.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the number of encounters in November dipped even lower than the historic lows seen in October.

“There were only 30,367 total encounters nationwide,” Leavitt reported, adding that for the “seventh consecutive month, US Border Patrol released zero illegal aliens into the United States.” She made it clear: “Let me repeat — seven months of zero illegal aliens being released into our country.”

Leavitt used these figures to argue that Trump had reversed the crisis she said was created by the former administration. “In ten months under President Trump, we’ve seen less apprehensions overall than we saw in just one month under Joe Biden,” she said at the weekly White House briefing.

Describing the results as “remarkable,” the press secretary declared that the “border is fully secure” and that “America’s best days are to come.” She portrayed Trump’s inaugural year as a sweeping restoration of sovereignty and national security.

Her comments came amid backlash from critics who questioned the methodology behind the encounter tallies and the definition of “releases.” Leavitt maintained that the trend remains indisputable. “This is the single greatest and fastest national security victory in modern American history, and it’s not even close,” she asserted.

She linked border security to economic recovery, noting that fewer illegal crossings reduce public‑safety costs and enhance overall affordability. “Americans right now are on track already to make up one-third of the $3,000 in lost wages under Joe Biden,” she added, tying border successes to broader economic progress.

India has been watching U.S. border policy closely, as many of the irregular migrants apprehended at the southern border are Indian nationals. Smuggling networks are increasingly rerouting South Asian migrants through Latin America, making U.S. enforcement decisions highly consequential for Indian families and immigration advisors.

U.S. border policies have swung dramatically over the past three administrations, shaped by legal battles, congressional debates, and international cooperation. The Trump administration’s strict deterrence stance remains a key part of its political brand and continues to reshape the domestic immigration conversation.
