At the Punjab Agricultural University Ground, the Group F matches of the 8th Nagesh Trophy Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind kicked off a winning streak for Assam and Punjab on Wednesday.
Assam took the first game into the open and finished bright side with an impressive 155/2 in 20 overs. Center‑piece Amlanjyoti Talukdar smashed a 70 from just 65 balls, keeping the run rate high. The bowling unit then tightened up, dismissing Chhattisgarh for only 102. Talukdar’s all‑round heroics earned him the Player of the Match award.
Later that day Punjab fought harder against Tripura. Tripura posted 129/7, but Punjab chased the total with ease, winning by nine wickets. Suraj Singh steadied the innings with a solid 52 off 55, while Sandeep Singh delivered a double threat—taking three wickets and scoring 24 off 18—to pick up the Player of the Match nod.
After three days of high‑energy play, Punjab tops the Group F leaderboard with two wins from three games. They opened their campaign with a convincing win over Assam, suffered a narrow loss to Chhattisgarh on day two, and then rebounded against Tripura. Assam also finished on a high, beating both Tripura and Chhattisgarh to earn two victories. Tripura and Chhattisgarh each took one win in the group.
This early momentum could set the tone for the rest of the tournament, as teams vie for a place in the knockout stages of the Nagesh Trophy.
