In a heart-pounding clash at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12, U Mumba snatched a thrilling 40-39 win over the Patna Pirates in their penultimate match of the first leg. The game unfolded at Vishwanath Sports Club in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, keeping fans on the edge of their seats right until the final raid.

Star raider Ayan Lohchab made PKL history by becoming the first player to score 20 points in back-to-back games. But heartbreak struck for the Patna Pirates when his last-second mistake handed the victory to U Mumba. For the winners, Amirmohammad Zafardanesh shone with a Super 10, while Anil delivered crucial raids and tackles in this high-octane PKL match.

U Mumba jumped ahead early, with Vijay Kumar tackling Ayan and Anil grabbing a two-point raid to lead 3-0. Patna hit back quickly—Milan Dahiya opened their score, and Ayan’s Do-or-Die raid tied it up. Zafardanesh then turned the tide with a stunning Super Raid, helping U Mumba build a six-point lead.

As Patna teetered on the edge of an ALL OUT, Ayan’s raiding magic pulled them back to just two points behind, ending the first quarter at 9-11. U Mumba sealed the ALL OUT soon after, led by captain Sunil Kumar’s key tackle. Their defense, anchored by Anil Chaprana, dominated, stretching the gap to seven points before halftime.

Ayan kept fighting, hitting his Super 10 in the first half alone. Still, Patna trailed 15-23 at the break.

The second half exploded into action. Patna stormed back in the first five minutes, with Ayan unstoppable—he sparked their first ALL OUT to level the scores. The teams traded points fiercely, hitting 29-29 with ten minutes left in this intense PKL showdown.

Anil and Zafardanesh kept U Mumba alive, but Ayan pushed Patna to a slim two-point lead in the final stretch. Zafardanesh then nailed his Super 10 to tie it at 34-34. Ayan responded with more brilliance, reaching his historic 20-point haul and putting Patna ahead again.

With under two minutes to go, U Mumba’s Super Tackle cut the lead to one. Zafardanesh’s lightning four-point raid leveled it at 39-39 with seconds left, forcing a tense final raid from Ayan. In the pressure cooker moment, Ayan stepped into the lobby by mistake, gifting U Mumba the narrowest of victories in PKL history. What a finish for kabaddi fans!
