Puneri Paltan crushed rivals U Mumba 40-22 in a thrilling Maharashtra Derby at Jaipur’s SMS Indoor Stadium. The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 champions dominated from start to finish, especially with their rock-solid defense that racked up 20 tackle points, including six Super Tackles. This win keeps Puneri Paltan firmly at the top of the PKL points table.
Gurdeep stole the show in defense with a High Five, while Gaurav Khatri and Abinesh Nadarajan each notched four tackles. On the raiding front, Stuwart Singh shone brightest with eight points, turning the game into a one-sided affair.
The match kicked off with Puneri Paltan’s defense setting the pace. Abinesh Nadarajan and Gurdeep grabbed early tackles, and raiders Sachin Tanwar and Pankaj Mohite quickly built a four-point lead. U Mumba’s Amirmohammad Zafardanesh fought back with points on both ends, narrowing it to two.
Gaurav Khatri and U Mumba’s Sunil Kumar added to the tally as defenses ruled this intense clash. Anil scored on a Do-Or-Die raid for U Mumba, but Aslam Inamdar couldn’t match it for Puneri Paltan. The first quarter ended in a 5-5 tie.
Puneri Paltan then found their rhythm, surging to a four-point lead. Zafardanesh pulled it back to one with a two-point raid, but Rakesh Rajesh’s Super Tackle restored the gap. Amid Do-Or-Die raids and tactical showdowns, the half closed with Puneri Paltan ahead 15-10.
The second half started strong for the champions. Vishal Bhardwaj’s Super Tackle pushed their lead to seven, and Abinesh Nadarajan’s follow-up kept U Mumba on the ropes. Puneri Paltan’s defensive masterclass made it tough for U Mumba to score, with the score hitting 23-15 before the final quarter.
Rinku grabbed four tackles for U Mumba, and Sandeep Kumar helped keep it close at seven points. Aslam Inamdar finally got on the board with a bonus point and a Super Tackle, stretching the lead to ten.
Gurdeep sealed his High Five, and Gaurav Khatri’s tackle triggered an All Out on U Mumba. Stuwart Singh wrapped it up with a Super Raid, finishing as Puneri Paltan’s top scorer and securing the emphatic 40-22 victory in this PKL Maharashtra Derby.
