In a thrilling Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 12 matchup, the Gujarat Giants snapped their five-game losing streak with a solid 33-27 victory over the UP Yoddhas on Monday at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Standout performances from raider Mohammadreza Shadloui and defender Ankit Dahiya powered the Giants to the win, shaking off the Yoddhas’ early push.

The Yoddhas jumped ahead first, grabbing a quick lead at 4-1 with strong raids. But the Giants fired back fast, thanks to Harish’s sharp raid that narrowed it to 4-2. They kept the pressure on, tying the score at 5-5 through a mix of clever raids and tough tackles.

Rakesh then stole the show with a brilliant Super Raid—the 50th of the season—snagging three points in one explosive move to put the Giants up. Just before the first-half timeout, Shadloui struck again with a powerful raid that triggered an all-out, boosting the Giants’ lead to five points at 11-6.

Coming out of the break, the Yoddhas fought hard to claw back, but the Giants stayed relentless. Bhavani Rajput kept his team alive with a Super Raid that cut the gap to 16-15, sparking some hope. The Giants answered right away, though, with quick points and Dahiya’s stunning tackle pushing it to 19-15. At halftime, the scoreboard showed 21-16 for Gujarat, highlighting their edge in both offense and defense.

The second half kicked off with the Yoddhas scoring a couple of early points to close in. Dahiya shut that down immediately with another key tackle, handing his team the momentum. Over the next 10 minutes, the Giants dominated with smart raids and rock-solid defense, holding a four-point lead during the strategic timeout.

Post-timeout, Gujarat pulled further ahead to five points. With under five minutes left, the Yoddhas rallied—Rajput nailed a raid to make it 29-26, keeping the tension high. But Dahiya’s decisive tackle struck back for the Giants, and Shadloui’s crucial tackle soon after restored their four-point buffer.

Shadloui sealed the deal with a multi-point raid, stretching the lead to 33-27 as the clock wound down. The Giants celebrated their hard-fought PKL win, a big boost as the season heats up in Chennai.
