Jaipur: Telugu Titans all-rounder Bharat Hooda is staying positive despite the team’s ups and downs in Pro Kabaddi League season 12. After kicking off with two losses, the Titans bounced back with three straight wins. But recent defeats to Pune and Bengaluru Bulls have dropped them to fifth place with just six points. Hooda believes the team can turn things around during the crucial Jaipur leg by sticking to their plans and fixing small errors.
The latest heartbreak came on Monday at the SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. Bengaluru Bulls pulled off a stunning win against Telugu Titans in the dying seconds. Substitute raider Ganesha Hanamantagol nailed a Super Raid, adding seven crucial points to support Alireza Mirzaian’s Super 10. This victory boosted Bengaluru to fourth on the Pro Kabaddi League points table, leaving the Titans ruing another close miss.
Speaking to the media during a JioStar Media Day event, Hooda emphasized the team’s focus. "We prep hard for every Pro Kabaddi League match," he said. "Our goals are clear—we need to execute our strategies perfectly in both defense and offense to get those positive results. Sure, we’ve made mistakes, but we’re working on them non-stop with help from our seniors and coaches."
As one of the more experienced players in the Telugu Titans squad, Hooda knows the pressure well. He’s been in the Pro Kabaddi League for five to six seasons, guiding younger teammates like Vijay Malik and Shubham Shinde. "Our coach gives us smart tips too," he added. "I’m confident we’ll shine in the upcoming games. Little slip-ups happen and sting, but we keep improving."
Looking ahead, the Telugu Titans face a tough challenge against unbeaten Dabang Delhi KC, who have won all five of their matches so far. Hooda stressed the importance of the next three Jaipur games. "These are key for us—we have to win them," he said. Reflecting on a recent loss where they were in a winning spot but faltered, he added, "It’s tough not to think about it when we check the points table. If we’d grabbed those wins, we’d be leading. But we can’t change the past; we just learn and push forward."
