Bihar: Posing as cops, robbers loot jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from teacher’s home

Patna, December 8 — In a bizarre turn of events on the morning of Monday, six men masquerading as police officers burst into the home of school teacher Sanjeev Kumar in the Simratala police station zone of Jamui district, Bihar, and ransacked his house, stealing jewelry worth almost Rs 15 lakh.

The daylight robbery sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, exposing serious gaps in local law‑and‑order. The raid took place around 6:35 a.m. in Telwa Bazaar, when the men—clad in police shirts and armed with sticks and pistols—pushed their way into Sanjeev’s kitchen. They claimed to be officers from Chakai police station and informed him that a warrant had been issued against him.

Immediately after he opened the door, the impostors seized Sanjeev’s wife’s jewelry and his daughter’s wedding trinkets before threatening to haul him to Chakai police station. The culprits fled the scene in a vehicle, but CCTV footage from the vicinity has managed to capture the escape car.

Police at Simratala have already begun probing the incident from all angles. The station in‑charge, Dhananjay Kumar, assured the public that the investigation will be exhaustive and that the perpetrators will soon be identified and brought to justice.

The brazen assault has left a chilling atmosphere in the area. Residents, stunned by the audacity of the attackers, have gathered outside their homes demanding increased patrolling and immediate reinforcements for their safety. Many villagers expressed disbelief that criminals are able to commit such bold acts during the early hours.

Despite the recent arrival of the NDA government and the appointment of Samrat Chaudhary as Bihar’s Home Minister, criminal incidents remain rampant, with a rising trend of robbery and violence indicating a growing confidence among offenders.
