India Women’s Hockey Team Battles to a Draw Against Japan at Asia Cup 2025
The Indian women’s hockey team delivered a spirited performance today as they fought hard against Japan in their second Pool B match at the Women’s Asia Cup 2025. Despite falling behind early, India came back strongly to level the game at 2-2, showcasing their determination and skill.
The match started off with a quick rush from India. Japan’s Hiroka Murayama scored the first goal in the 10th minute, giving Japan an early lead. India pushed hard to respond, but Japan’s solid defense kept them at bay. The first quarter ended with Japan leading 1-0.
After the break, India intensified their attack. Their efforts paid off when Rutuja Dadaso Pisal scored in the 30th minute, bringing the score to 1-1. Both teams fought fiercely, but neither could score again before half-time.
As the second half unfolded, both sides remained cautious. Japan’s disciplined defense kept India from taking the lead, but the game remained exciting. In the 58th minute, Japan’s Chiko Fujibayashi scored a penalty stroke, making it 2-1 in Japan’s favor.
With only a few minutes left on the clock, India pushed even harder. Navneet Kaur scored a crucial goal from a Penalty Corner right at the 60th minute, leveling the score at 2-2. Despite a frantic finish, neither team scored again, and the match ended in a tie.
India’s strong start in the tournament continues — after winning their first game against Thailand 11-0, they now remain unbeaten. Their next match is against Singapore on September 8 at 12:00 PM Indian time.
