Zimbabwe to face Namibia in three-match series ahead of T20 WC Africa Qualifiers

Zimbabwe is gearing up for an exciting three-match T20I series against Namibia this month, and it’s all about getting ready for the big ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers. Cricket fans are in for a treat as these matches kick off preparations for both teams ahead of the global showdown.

The action starts on September 15, 16, and 18 at the scenic Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Best part? Entry is completely free, so you can cheer on your favorites without spending a dime. Zimbabwe and Namibia are two of the eight teams battling it out in the T20 World Cup qualifiers, happening from September 26 to October 4 in Harare. The top two squads will snag spots in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to light up stadiums in India and Sri Lanka.

Zimbabwe’s team heads into this Namibia series with the same lineup that gave Sri Lanka a real scare in their recent T20I battles at Harare Sports Club. They lost 2-1, but the fight was intense and full of promise. Head coach Justin Sammons is pumped about the opportunity. “This series against Namibia is perfect for building momentum before the qualifiers,” he said. “We need to take the good stuff from the Sri Lanka games and use these matches to sharpen our skills. Namibia is a strong side with a great track record in T20 cricket, so it’ll push us to bring our A-game. It’s all about fine-tuning our strategies, nailing team combos, and stepping into the qualifiers feeling confident and ready for battle.”

Remember, Zimbabwe last featured in a T20 World Cup back in 2022 in Australia. They missed out on the 2024 edition in the West Indies and USA, where Uganda and Namibia grabbed the Africa spots. Now, the Chevrons are hungry to make a comeback.

Here’s the full Zimbabwe squad for the series: Sikandar Raza (Captain), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Brad Evans, Trevor Gwandu, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Brendan Taylor, and Sean Williams.

Don’t miss this thrilling T20I cricket clash – it’s a key step toward T20 World Cup glory!
