Police sources shared on Monday that they’ve arrested the accused in this high-profile theft. They’re wrapping up the interrogation and will reveal more details soon. This breakthrough has everyone talking about security at one of India’s top heritage sites.

The theft happened during the 10-day Das Lakshan Mahaparv, a key Jain festival, held at 15 August Park in front of the iconic Red Fort. The event drew big names, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, but it turned shocking when the kalash vanished. Now, questions are flying about how such a bold crime could occur at this sensitive spot.

From CCTV footage and police probes, it turns out the thief sneaked in dressed as a Jain monk. While dignitaries like Om Birla were on stage receiving blessings from Jain saints, the culprit grabbed a bag with the precious 760-gram gold kalash. It sparkled with 150 grams of diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, plus other valuables, and just walked out amid the ceremonies.

The kalash belongs to Sudhir Kumar Jain, a Delhi businessman. He told it’s a family heirloom from his father’s era, weighing about 900 grams total and valued at Rs 1 crore today. "This means a lot to us," Jain said, hoping police recover it soon as they promised. He pinpointed the theft to around 9:26 AM, with everything captured on CCTV and police logs.

Thanks to those clear camera shots, cops quickly identified and arrested the suspect. They’ll present him in court shortly and feel confident about getting back the stolen gold kalash in the coming days.

This arrest brings huge relief to the festival organizers and devotees, who were stunned by the theft during such a sacred event at the Red Fort. Stay tuned for updates on this Red Fort theft case—it’s a reminder of how vital strong security is at our national landmarks.
