Hyderabad MLA T. Raja Singh, fresh off his recent resignation from the BJP, has thrown down the gauntlet to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He wants Reddy to quit his MP post and take him on in the elections.
Raja Singh, the fiery leader from Hyderabad’s Goshamahal constituency in Telangana, made this bold challenge on Wednesday. “If Kishan Reddy resigns as MP from Secunderabad Lok Sabha, I’ll step down as MLA too,” he told reporters. He even dared Reddy to contest against him in by-elections for both the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat and the Goshamahal Assembly seat.
The Hindutva advocate didn’t hold back on his criticism of the BJP’s state leadership. Raja Singh slammed the ongoing groupism that’s hurting the party in Telangana. “Under this current setup, BJP won’t grab power in the state,” he warned. He went as far as to say, “If BJP forms the government here with the present committee, I’ll retire from politics for good.”
Raja Singh insists he still has strong support from BJP’s central leaders. “They call me regularly,” he claimed. He plans to meet them soon to spill the beans on the messy situation in the Telangana BJP unit.
Don’t expect him to jump ship to other parties, though. Raja Singh ruled out joining Congress or the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). “I’m still a BJP leader, and I’m no secular,” he declared firmly.
This drama kicked off back in June when Raja Singh quit the BJP on June 30. His resignation came as a protest against the party’s choice of E. Ramchander Rao as Telangana BJP president. BJP national chief J.P. Nadda accepted it, but Raja Singh vowed to keep fighting for Hindutva causes.
“I was born to serve Hindutva, and I’ll work for it till my last breath,” he said at the time. He promised to stay dedicated to protecting Hindutva, nationalism, Sanatan Dharma, and the rights of the Hindu community.
In his resignation letter, Raja Singh expressed shock over Rao’s appointment. “This is a huge disappointment for me and lakhs of party workers,” he wrote. “At a time when BJP is close to forming its first government in Telangana, this decision raises big doubts about our path ahead.”
