Assam CM offers prayers at Narayani Shila Temple in Haridwar on Pitru Amavasya

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a heartfelt visit to Haridwar in Uttarakhand on Sunday, September 21, to honor Pitru Amavasya. He offered prayers at the revered Narayani Shila Temple, a spot he calls a yearly ritual for paying respects to ancestors.

Speaking to reporters after the prayers, Sarma shared his joy, saying, “I try to come to Haridwar every year on Pitru Amavasya. This year too, I made sure to visit and pray at the Narayani Shila Temple. I feel truly blessed to be here today.”

Just days earlier, on September 17, Sarma kicked off plans in Guwahati to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday with a special 15-day program across Assam. The initiative includes 26,000 health screening camps focused on women’s wellness, plus mega camps in every assembly constituency.

Sarma highlighted more community efforts, like blood donation drives during Eva Pakhwada and financial support for new writers. Under the popular Arunodoi scheme, the state aims to bring in 30 lakh more women for economic aid. He’ll also give a fresh push to the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam tree-planting campaign.

Praising PM Modi, Sarma called him a national pride who’s steering India toward becoming a developed powerhouse. “It’s his 75th birthday, and we’re proud of how he’s served the nation non-stop while delivering big wins for Assam’s people,” Sarma added.
