J&K Crime Branch files charge sheet in job fraud case, accused promised jobs in bank

Srinagar, Dec 7 (LatestNewsX) – The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Crime Branch has formally filed a charge sheet against two suspects in a job‑fraud scheme that siphoned large amounts of money from victims who were promised employment.

According to a statement from the J&K Crime Branch Kashmir, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) submitted an FIR‑No. 50/2023 case, invoking sections 420, 468, 471 and 120‑B of the RPC, to the Hon’ble Court of Passenger Tax and the Sub‑Registrar in Srinagar.

The accused, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh of Pahloo, Kulgam, and Aijaz‑ul‑Rehman Manroo of Bulbul Bagh, Barzulla, allegedly deceived complainants by issuing forged appointment letters that convinced them to provide the money.

An investigation opened at the Economic Offences Wing’s Police Station confirmed that the two men fabricated official documents and lured the victims into a scam that promised jobs at J&K Bank.

Evidence gathered—documents, witness statements, and forensic tests—led the EOW to conclude that the defendants committed offences punishable under the cited RPC provisions. Therefore, the charge sheet has been presented to the appropriate court for adjudication.

The statement also underscored the Wing’s resolve to curb financial fraud and protect public interests by ensuring that perpetrators face justice.

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir keep a close eye on drug smuggling, hawala‑type money schemes, and other illicit financial activities, as proceeds from such operations are believed to fuel terrorism in the Union Territory.
