Indian Boxer Jaismine Lamboria Wins Historic Gold at World Boxing Championships 2025
In a thrilling showdown at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool, Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria grabbed a stunning gold medal in the women’s 57kg category. She beat Poland’s Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta 4-1 on Saturday, sparking massive celebrations back home.
Jaismine couldn’t hide her joy after the win. "India’s performance at the World Boxing Championship was amazing," she said with a big smile. "We bagged two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze—I’m super happy and proud of everyone!"
The match started tough for Jaismine. Julia, who won silver at the Paris 2024 Olympics, came out swinging with quick counter-attacks. Polish fans in the crowd cheered loudly for her, but Jaismine stayed calm. From the second round, she used her height to take control, landing powerful punches and turning the fight in her favor. That smart strategy sealed the 4-1 victory.
Jaismine’s path to gold was impressive. The southpaw boxer racked up four straight 5-0 unanimous wins earlier in the tournament. She first defeated Ukraine’s Daria-Olha Hutarina, then Brazil’s two-time Olympian Jucielen Romeu. In the quarters, she outboxed Uzbekistan’s Khumoranobu Mamajonova, and in the semis, she topped Venezuela’s Paris Olympian Omailyn Alcala.
This gold boosts India’s strong showing at the World Boxing Championships 2025. Along with Jaismine, Parveen Hooda claimed gold in the women’s 48kg category. Nupur Sheoran picked up silver in the 80+kg division, and Olympian Pooja Rani grabbed bronze in the 80kg event. With two golds, one silver, and one bronze, Team India proved their depth and grit across weight classes.
Boxing fans in India are buzzing about these World Boxing Championship results, highlighting the rise of Indian women boxers on the global stage. What a way to end the tournament!
