Bhopal police took swift action against loud DJs that broke noise‑pollution rules during the recent Navratri celebrations. The city’s Commissioner, Harinarayanachari Mishra, said that 30 cases were registered and existing DJ vehicles were seized under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Over the past months, the MP Noise Control Act has seen stronger enforcement. Mishra highlighted that the police issued clear instructions to DJ operators before the festival, after several talks with community groups. “Most people followed the guidelines, but a few still breached them,” he said.
The 30 incidents logged at 20 police stations happened while people were walking the Durga idol immersion processions across Arera Hills, TT Nagar, Kolar, and Bairagarh. In most of these cases, the police acted first, filing Firearms and? The vehicles were slated to appear in court, with owners allowed to pay a fine and get the vehicles back.
The crackdown follows the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rule of 2000 and oversight from Supreme and High Court directives that ban loudspeakers without prior permission at religious and public events. After taking office in December 2023, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strengthened the law, ensuring that sound amplifiers at public places must meet strict volume limits.
The Bhopal Police aim to keep the city’s streets peaceful and set a precedent for other Uttar‑Phran and national city governments during festival season.`
