San Francisco thief posing as delivery person steals $11M in cryptocurrency

An armed intruder posing as a delivery worker broke into a house in San Francisco’s Mission Dolores neighborhood, bound the homeowner with duct‑tape, and absconded with a cellphone, a laptop, and about $11 million worth of cryptocurrency during the Saturday morning hours, police report.

The fake courier sharpened the attack by pulling out a gun and quickly restraining the victim, the police said. It is still unknown whether the homeowner was hurt or if anyone has been arrested. The San Francisco Police Department has yet to issue further statements, and no comment has yet been released in response to a request from The Post.

The robbery follows a broader trend of violent abductions and attempted crypto‑thefts. In March, a crew of pickpockets tried to steal the digital currency from influencer Amouranth (real name Kaitlyn Siragusa), who makes roughly $2 million a month on OnlyFans and Twitch. In May, two crypto‑enthusiasts, John Woeltz (37) and William Duplessie (33), were charged with kidnapping and torturing Italian billionaire Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan in a New York City townhouse to force his Bitcoin password.

Because digital currencies are harder to trace and easier to launder than notes, thieves find them an attractive target. “Kidnappings of crypto investors are definitely on the rise,” said Steve Krystek, CEO of PFC Safeguards, a personal‑security firm. “A lot of the people who come into this money are flashy, and they’re signaling that they have wealth.”
